Affective Map

An art-social science collaboration exploring women’s experiences of moving through a community that experiences high levels of violence. The artistic installation blends viewpoints of the Maré with images of emotionally resonant textures, shapes and spaces. It draws on research with women living in the neighbourhood, including data from biosensors (portable devices capturing changes in emotional state in real time) as well as interviews, through cross projections on transparent and / or mirrored surfaces. Academic, cultural, scientific and personal contexts are interwoven, displaying realities that are revealed by art, technology and social science.
